Cowgirl on the Coast

Surf’s up friends!

Just kidding, I really mean, “Hey there friends!”

As you may have guessed from the title, our family escaped to the coast of California and Oregon for a little while and decided to try some new and exciting activities!

We highly recommend playing spike ball on the beach if you get the opportunity! It is totally worth taking as a carry-on! 🙂

Maybe by the greeting, you guessed we tried surfing too?  If so, then you would be correct! Four of us reserved some surfing lessons while we were in California and loved every minute of it, except for the occasional surfboard hitting us in the head or the wave filling our mouths with a bunch of saltwater! Even with these mishaps, we loved popping up on the surfboard and attempting to keep our balance while trying to look “cool” all at the same time. 🙂

I don’t think we made it very easy on our surfing coaches to tell who was whom due to the matching suits and braids…
We had the best surf coaches ever! Highly recommend “Malibu Surf Coach” if you’re wanting to surf in LA!
Can you tell whose who? (Top L – Hannah, Top R – Cate, Bottom L – Henry, Bottom R – Emma)
Of course everyone wants to get in on the picture! 🙂

Aside from the surfing, we enjoyed an LA Dodgers game, a hike up to see the Hollywood sign, and a drive on Rodeo Drive, which was kind of like driving cattle, because of the slow-moving traffic, but instead we were driving alongside fancy Gucci and Coach stores versus some mama and baby calves!

Can you make out the Hollywood sign in the distance?? We barely could.

After some time in California, we traveled to Oregon where we plunged into some exciting white water river rafting on the Rogue River with friends from Grants Pass, Oregon. We enjoyed driving up the scenic Highway 101 to Seaside OR, where we added one more day of surfing and some more sightseeing. We even made it up to Washington state to Cape Disappointment (Lewis and Clark traveled here too!) and were excited we could check off another state that we have traveled too!

Despite the name, “Cape Disappointment”, we were definitely still able to sneak in some smiles and laughs.
For the non-coffee girls, we sure enjoyed the scenery maybe a tad more than the drinks… 🙂

We are thankful for the family time away and now that we are back, we look forward to exchanging our surfboards for saddles, so that we can be surfing through the pastures on horseback sometime soon! Wishing you some solid summer family time too!

Love getting in on seeing you all surf! Awesome pics! I did feel a tad sorry for your dad’s whiteness and strawberry blonde hair/features. He definitely fits well on the ranch and a little less comfortable on the beach. ❤️ Good job Emma!
